The Odd Sock Laundrette

The Odd Sock Laundrette
While I was studying in Belgium, we had a project where we were tasked with designing a brand, along with mock-ups of the interior, a business card and any other promotional material that would fit with the design.

We had a few options of business types to design for and I chose a Laundrette. While laundrettes exist in the UK it is quite rare to use them, however, going to a laundrette is common practice in Belgium especially for students. The laundrette I went to was basic, but nice, clean and airy, and this inspired me to create a fun, quirky and thought out design for a laundrette.

I decided to name it "The Odd Sock Laundrette" as losing socks is a common occurrence and joke with laundry. I wanted to create a simple logo that was similar to vintage logos. I also wanted to have mock-ups of the tokens for the machines, business cards, packaging and a small leaflet explaining how the machines work and the prices. The drive behind the idea was that there would be a very large empty frame in the store with pegs on it, so if you found someone's odd sock or another item of laundry, you could simply hang it up so they could easily find it. This was instead of the small bin at the laundrette I went to. It was a fun, and interactive part of the design, that was better for laundry and meant you were more likely to find that missing sock.

Below you can see my final presentation pages for the project.
